The criteria to be followed for water saving are as follows:

• All water discharges will be channeled to the water treatment system.

• A backflow prevention device must be installed and operated on the potable water supply.

• All spray nozzles should be inspected annually to ensure maximum efficiency of the water used.

• All water-saving devices must be maintained to original or improved specifications for water conservation.

• If osmosis water systems are used, the rejected water must be reused during washing.

• Directing as much filtered rainwater as possible to the potable water storage cisterns is recommended.

• The car wash must meet all local effluent criteria.

• Tunnel and rollover car wash should use a maximum of 40 gallons (150 liters) of potable/fresh water per average wash package.

• Pressure car wash should use high-pressure wash nozzles and pumping systems that use less than three gallons (11.36 liters) per minute.
